This past week, Acumen held its fourth annual Acumen Connect Users Conference at the beautiful Loews resort in Miami Beach. Users from nearly 40 practices and 22 different states plus Puerto Rico joined us to hear hot topics on:
- The proposed Meaningful Use Stage 3 criteria
- What’s new with PQRS in 2015
- The Physician-Value Based Payment Modifier
- The Merit-Based Incentive Payment System (MIPS)
- Value-Based Purchasing
- Patient engagement
- Interoperability
- CKD benchmarking
- Dialysis systems’ integration
Acumen speakers also presented past and upcoming product updates for Acumen PM, Acumen EHR, and Acumen MCC as well as gave a sneak peek of Acumen’s new version of the Dialysis Module.
At this year’s conference, we touted Acumen’s renewed focus on the customer experience and highlighted a major transition in our development methodology: agility, iteration, and customer centricity. We also allotted more time for the ever-popular users roundtable discussions, resource room, and customer panel and held 2 “networking” lunches that allowed participants to make connections with other customers from around the country.
The Acumen Connect Users Conference was created to help our customers connect with each another and with Acumen staff. The users roundtable, resource room, customer panel, and networking lunches facilitate that connection. The Resource room provides Acumen customers the opportunity to receive one-on-one time with Acumen Support, Acumen Trainers, and Acumen Partners. Many times, customers are meeting in person with an Acumen employee they have spoken to many times on the phone.
Each year, we tweak the users conference based on customer feedback and based on new ideas internally. This year, in addition to adding more time for the users roundtable and resource room, we held a photo challenge on social media. The photo challenge encouraged Acumen users to post pictures with their Acumen swag on Instagram and Twitter. As incentive, we have promised gift cards to the lucky customers who posted the 3 best pictures.
Here are some of my favorite photos of Acumen customers with their Acumen swag:
If you go to Instagram, you will see that there are a lot of other pictures from the Users Conference in addition to the swag shots. For those who don’t know me, I’m the guy in the middle here:
Yes, that’s me doing yoga for the very first time. I figured what better place to try yoga than on the beach, and I must say that I think I’m hooked. It’s strangely relaxing and physically challenging at the same time. At this year’s conference, in addition to the yoga, we also provided our customers with a chance to walk or run in groups before we started our first full day of sessions.
To add to the excitement, Navicure, Acumen’s clearinghouse partner, gave away 2 $100 American Express gift cards and Acumen gave away 2 iWatches, one at the start of the conference and one on the amazing boat cruise of the Miami skyline and Star Island, where we saw the local homes of Puff Daddy, Gloria and Emilio Estefan, Julio Iglesias, and other stars. My personal favorite was the home of Dr. Philip Frost, who has an estimated net worth of $4.9 billion.
Lastly, I would be remiss not to mention the food. Whether for the Welcome Reception, breakfast, lunch, or the power breaks, the food at the Loews was fantastic. Dinner on the boat cruise was also terrific.
A big Thank You to all of the customers who joined us and helped to make this year’s Acumen Connect Users Conference a success. We at Acumen certainly enjoyed it!
