On Friday, we wrapped up the 2014 Acumen Connect Users Conference in our hometown of Nashville, TN. The conference attracted attendees from 33 practices representing 22 states.
Hosted at Nashville’s newest downtown hotel, The Omni, the 2-day event included a total of 8 sessions with familiar themes and some brand new additions. Specifically, the Resource Room was a session on each of the 2 days, allowing everyone in attendance to talk one-on-one with Acumen experts and partners. In addition, the Resource Room format was expanded to 8 stations to accommodate more users.
With a focus on hot topics like regulatory issues and reimbursement, we devoted an entire session to ICD-10 in addition to Dr. Ketchersid’s CMS incentives session. To compliment the new Acumen Practice Management, designed to streamline nephrology software, we brought in our entire PM team to talk with interested customers.
We continued our conference theme of “connecting” by making sure to connect customers during our networking lunch, Customer Roundtable Discussion, and the very popular customer panel. Thank you to our seven panel members who were awesome!
Our big announcement was the Acumen Customer Community—a forum where Acumen® PM and Acumen nEHR® users can share information and collaborate with other Acumen Customer Community members and Acumen representatives. We can’t wait to see what customers think of this new connecting platform.
Connecting on stage
Since the conference was in Nashville this year, we decided to give our Customer Appreciation Party a very musical feel. We all gathered a short walk from The Omni at The Hard Rock Café Nashville where we were treated to some great food and drinks. We had a photo area provided by Schenk Photography, equipped with guitars and cowboy hats amongst other photo props. (The locals will recognize them from the Nashville Predators and Tennessee Titans professional games.)
The Michael Scott Band (not that guy from The Office) began with some great music, then when everyone was warmed up, the band played while some of our customers and Acumen team members took turns on stage performing live-band Karaoke. We have some very talented singers in our midst! (Speaking of which, if you made it on stage, our photographer Kerry Woo made sure to capture your moment in the spotlight.) We wrapped up the night with more music and dancing.
Hometown connection
At Acumen we are proud to call Nashville home, which made it easy to bring more of the Acumen team to the conference than ever before. It was a fantastic opportunity to introduce our customers to Acumen team members who typically wouldn’t attend our conference event.
We were also able to share some things that make our city such a special place. We commissioned Hatch Show Print to create a custom poster for our conference. Their signature block lettering comes from “chiseling and gouging” the woodblocks before painting them with vibrant colors and running the poster through the letterpress printer. The posters were distributed to every attendee along with some other “tastes of Tennessee” like Goo Goo Clusters, Moon Pies, and Caramels and Toffee from Walker Creek Confections.
We are so grateful to all of our speakers and the Acumen team for all of your hard work. Most of all, a big thank you to our customers for attending our conference. We know your time is precious and we really appreciate you all spending a few days in Nashville with us. We value your feedback (we do listen!) and look forwarding to seeing everyone again next year.

Hi Linda! Thank you so much for asking about the 2015 Acumen Connect Conference. We are in the planning process and looking at locations with availability in the late summer/early fall time frame. We will let you know as soon as we have definite dates and an official location. Will we see you and your team next year?
